Tala's Beauty Black Book: Blow-Dries in Dubai
Due to my work, I practically live at the salon (so it tends to be my part-time office too – perfect for multi-tasking). That also tends to make me a picky customer. As the stylists I love end up getting booked up for weeks in advance, I’ve had to find more than one who I can trust. Keep in mind though that a good blow-dry factors in both the experience and the stylist as well as the results. Here are a few of my favourites…
For Loose Waves
Theresa and Iraia at Marquee
This is one of my favourite salons in the UAE, from the team behind The Nail Spa. I love everything from the burlesque vibe of the salon and the orange chocolates that come with the tea to the Kevin Murphy products they use – one of my favourite haircare brands. I either go there for an express Kevin Murphy treatment or some loose waves, and I recommend Iraia at The Lakes Club and Theresa at the Jumeirah branch. I normally struggle to make my style hold, but with them it lasts me a good two days.
For Glamorous Waves
Asma at THE Dollhouse Salon
I never knew how hard it would be to get loose waves with volume that would last me more than a few hours. I love Asma at The Dollhouse salon in Jumeirah for some glam loose waves. She is super sweet too.
For Beach Waves
Elie at Tony El Mendelek
I’d always just accepted the fact that beach waves were never going to work on my hair, which is thick and heavy, until I met Elie from Tony El Mendelek at the St Regis Hotel. Creating beach waves is an art, and it takes longer than any other style, but that amazing volume and waves are still defiantly staying put after two sleeps!
