Fashion Obsession: Sneakers
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for some time, you’ll know athleisure is huge right now, and was a key trend on runways from Balenciaga and Alexander Wang to Louis Vuitton and Max Mara. And I’ve well and truly jumped on the bandwagon - I’ve never bought as many sneakers as I did this year! Here are a few things to keep in mind with this all important shoe hero:
It’s important to put sneakers into mental categories - leisure sneakers to wear out and on-the-go, including for travels; workout trainers for runs and strength training; and the fancy ones to only wear on special occasions.
I have a feminine style, so I love pairing them with contrasting dresses with soft textures like scallops, lace, and crochet. However during the day, I like to dress down in something cool and casual like a pair of denim cut-off shorts and a t-shirt or blouse with a cap.
The bigger brands like Nike, Adidas and Puma have all come out with some chic designs - I usually get mine online at net-a-porter.com and namshi.com to save time in stores. My current favourites are Nike’s Roshe, Fenty for Puma sneakers and the Stan Smiths from Adidas Originals - and of course, if you can, get your hands on Kanye West’s Yeezy collection!
