Fave label: Chloé
Parents: Victoria and David Beckham
Style credentials: Ultimate yummy-mummy Victoria has wasted no time in ensuring her long-awaited daughter Harper is a fixture on best-dressed lists the world over. Even though she’s not yet one, Harper made it onto Vogue’s list of most stylish stars of 2011, and she already has a signature look – print dress, tights or socks and a bow in her hair. Her girly style is causing serious fashion-envy, too; after she was pictured in a pair of Chloé tights, sales of the haute hosiery exploded, with many stockists selling out within days. Even dad David is getting in on the styling. “I didn’t realise how excited I would get over buying hair bows!” he admitted.
Style Tip: Little touches like co-ordinated hair accessories can take an outfit from simple to stylish. Chloé is available in The Dubai Mall.
KINGSTON AND ZUMA ROSSDALE
Fave label: Harajuku Mini, All Saints
Parents: Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale
Style credentials: With parents as edgy-cool as theirs, Kingston and Zuma were never going to don traditional boys’ clothing. Instead, the brothers regularly rock some of the most fun, colourful and unique outfits around, including creations from mum Gwen’s kids fashion line Harajuku Mini, which is inspired partly by Japanese street style – and partly by the boys’ own tastes. “My kids have a big opinion about it,” admitted Gwen, who consulted Kingston (five) and Zuma (three) through the creative phase of designing the line. This kids have also been fashion show regulars for years – walking the runway at launches not only for Harajuku Mini last month but also for Gwen’s adult line L.A.M.B.
Style Tip: Pull off a rock star look (even without the musical abilities) with skinny trousers and a graphic print tee from www.allsaints.com.
Fave label: Missoni
Parents: Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman
Style credentials: When stylist to the stars Rachel announced she was expecting last year, the kids clothing industry whooped for joy because this woman can shop! Not only does her son Skylar’s wardrobe boast a custom Missoni sweater and Gucci bomber jacket, he also has designer accessories ranging from a monogrammed Louis Vuitton nappy bag to a Hermés baby blanket!
Having graced red carpets in designer garb since the age of two months, Skylar made his NYC Fashion Week debut in September aged five-months, when dad Rodger brought him to see the action at the Spring 2012 Rachel Zoe Collection show. Skylar has since become his mum’s fave fashion accessory. “It’s too much fun. It is like dressing a live doll, he has no opinion!” gushed Rachel.
Style Tip: Gucci and Missoni both have stores in The Dubai Mall in Dubai and Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi – a Gucci children’s hooded top can cost as much as Dhs3,000, so get saving!
Fave label: Burberry
Parents: Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
Style credentials: The youngest (and arguably cutest) member of the Kardashian clan has a wardrobe that rivals aunty Kim’s. Two-year-old Mason’s preppy style echoes that of his dad Scott, complete with popped collars, loafers and sweaters. Mum Kourtney admits that she also likes to co-ordinate her outfits with her son’s, recently tweeting, “I always get inspired by what to wear depending on what Mason’s wearing.”
In a video clip on her ‘Mommy Blog’, Kourtney gave viewers an insight into Mason’s New York hotel wardrobe, which boasts an impressive array of footwear, including multiple pairs of moccasins from celeb-favourite Freshly Picked. “Every time he grows out, I get him a new batch,” Kourt revealed, adding a swipe at less fashion-savvy mothers, “I’ve seen so many little boys and their outfits are so cute, but then their mom’s put dorky shoes on them!” Shame on you, mums!
Style Tip: Burberry has a dedicated kids’ store in The Dubai Mall and in Abu Dhabi’s Marina Mall; the Prorsum Graphics boys shirt cost around Dhs500. In July 2011, Freshly Picked is not yet available in the UAE – find out more at freshly-picked.com.
Fave label: Sourpuss
Parents: Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom
Style credentials: With a supermodel mum and a heartthrob dad, little Flynn Bloom has big shoes to fill in the looks department. Luckily, his adorable dimples and chubby cheeks are a winning combo, complemented by an array of casual chic outfits perfect for airport runs when tagging along to photo shoots with his Victoria’s Secret Angel mum.
Flynn, who turned one on 6 January 2012, was spotted in Miranda’s home country Australia in August 2011 wearing a superhero-themed customised tee-shirt that featured his fashionable folks’ moniker ‘KerrBloom’ emblazoned across the front, paired with on-trend coloured denim jeans.
Style Tip: Pair edgy Sourpuss high-tops with coloured jeans for the height of fashion Flynn-style. See www.sourpussclothing.com.
Fave label: Ralph Lauren Children
Parents: Jessica Alba and Cash Warren
Style credentials: Mum Jessica Alba took maternity wear to a whole new level when pregnant with Honor Marie and then Haven, maintaining her chic style right up to their births, so it’s no surprise that Honor has inherited her mum’s fashion sense. The three-year-old fashionista is the princess of the playground, pairing high-end pieces from labels like Ralph Lauren Children, Stella McCartney Kids and Juicy Couture, with high-street staples from stores such as Baby Gap. Our all-time fave Honor outfit was December’s suitably festive red dress with matching red bow, white furry gilet and super cute mini Tory Burch leopard print ballet pumps worn for her visit to Santa. Awww.
Style Tip: Tory Burch opened her first Middle East boutique in The Dubai Mall last year; there’s also a branch of Ralph Lauren Children there too. Think in terms of a theme for super cute dressing.
