Meem Gallery in Dubai will present a solo exhibition featuring the work of UAE-based Syrian artist Juliet Makhlouf.

Melding science and pop visual geometry, her brain-bending paintings feature intricate geometric shapes, creating optical illusions that intrigue the viewer.

Makhlouf’s fascination with science comes through strongly in her work, which has in the past focused on the human body. While her early work was largely figurative, her current output is more abstract in nature, inviting viewers’ eyes to scan the brightly coloured canvases bursting with blues, yellows, oranges and reds.

A graduate of Damascus University’s Faculty of Art, Juliet has worked as a teacher in schools in Syria, Qatar and the UAE, as well as taking part in a number of group shows in the Middle East and Europe. Her most recent exhibition took place at Madrid’s Arabic-Syrian Cultural Center last November.
