Healthy Recipe: Stir-Fried Beef With Chilli And Basil

5 bird’s eye chillies, chopped

8 garlic cloves, chopped

11⁄2tbsp vegetable stock

400g beef tenderloin, trimmed and sliced into bite-sized pieces

3tbsp soy sauce

1tbsp honey

1tsp sliced red chilli

2 handfuls of holy basil leaves

In a heavy wok, stir-fry bird’s eye chillies and garlic using half of the vegetable stock. Once fragrant, add sliced beef tenderloin and cook for several minutes. Moisten with remaining vegetable stock and season with soy sauce and honey. Add sliced chilli and basil leaves and remove from heat. Serve with brown rice.

Chiva Som Says... Known as holy basil because it is planted around temples in Thailand, the leaves are smaller and a distinctive reddish-purple in colour. The leaves help aid digestion.
