Our A-list New Year

We decided to have New Year’s Eve party at home this year and invite all our friends along to watch the Atlantis fireworks from our roof terrace.  The theme was James Bond and everyone made a big effort. I wore a long sparkly evening dress with a spilt revealing the red lining, a Christmas pressie from my hubby, Johnny. The night was off to a good start when our friend Gary Rhodes turned up with an array of fabulous homemade food. He asked if he could use our kitchen to make the final preparations and I was happy to oblige – we loved Gary’s leak and mushroom quiche and his pecan pie, and his wife Jenny made a lovely cheesecake. What great party guests they are!

Johnny decorated the roof terrace with fairy lights and prepared a James Bond quiz, plus singing games – boys versus girls – and we all sang our hearts out. As we watched the fireworks across the Dubai skyline we sang <New York, New York>, complete with kicks It was a very special night.

Theatre’s Not Just for Christmas!

We had a busy Christmas as my hubby Johnny choreographed the production of Cinderella at DUCTAC theatre this year. It was a fantastic family show and we were thrilled to have our Dubai Performing Arts students in the panto. Our kids Jaden and Star Lily made their panto debut, too, appearing as little mice! Well done to all our students who took part, we’re so proud of you. Check out listings for more productions at DUCTAC – coming up they have Einstein, a play about the genius, Dubai Laughing’s Brown Party comedy show for grown-ups and The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, for little theatre-lovers aged three to seven.  INFO: ductac.org/theatre.php

Keeping up with Tradition

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. I myself enjoyed spending time with our family and friends starting with the fabulous Bubbalicious Brunch on Christmas Day. It’s become tradition for our family to have an annual photo taken by the hotel’s amazing tree. I wore a lovely nude lace dress from Reiss and we tucked into lunch with all the trimmings. Definitely worth booking up there next year! INFO: westinminaseyahi.com/en/bubbalicious

FYI: Our Dubai Performing Arts Academy has launched a ballet programme and Performing Arts classes in our new location, Fitness First Golden Mile on The Palm Jumeirah. Come join the dance! INFO: Building 7, Golden Mile, Palm Jumeriah, Dubai, 04 453 8859
