DPA Performs for West End Stars
Johnny’s best friend and his lovely fiancée are staying with us this week which means we get to do all the fab sight seeing and show them around Dubai. Our friends are both performers in the West End, Chris in Billy Elliot and Katie stars in the hit musical Wicked where she plays Elphaba, one of the witches. They’re here to celebrate their recent engagement and so the first stop was taking them to our jewelers GB, who made their wedding rings.
Next stop was our Dubai Performing Arts Academy, and so we brought the happy couple along to watch the dress rehearsal of our forthcoming show <DPA Performs… 2015>. They were impressed by the talent they saw and our students raised their performance levels, performing in front of West End stars, just in time for our DPA debut show on Saturday 6 June, at the Madinat Theatre. We’re delighted to be supported by Adidas, Fitness First, Hartland International school, Eclipse, Mango Jam studios, DBS and Creative Zone. Tickets are open to the general public so come down to see a spectacular family show! www.MadinatJumeirah.com and Box Office. 190
All White on the Night
After rehearsals, we all went dressed in white to the Ahlan! White Party in association with Phillips, held at Sidhartta Lounge. There’s something very glamorous about everyone dressed in white and we got some lovely pics. The Ahlan! team looked (almost) angelic! I must say thank you to Phillips for my electric toothbrush and providing the best goodie bag ever. They proved very popular too and went like hot cakes! There’ll be lots of white smiles around town this week!
On our friends’ last night we decided to show them the stunning Burj Kalifa as it’s an impressive sight and it ended off their week in style. We had drinks at Atmosphere on the 123rd floor before heading downstairs to eat at the Italian Armani Ristorante. The table settings were golden and the spaghetti lobster was divine! The boys opted for the steak and it was carved at our table. Such a treat.
I had the pleasure of meeting the delightful Charlotte Knight, founder of Ciate, a fresh and cool range of nail polishes and more. She was over for the launch of her new Olivia Palermo collection and I was invited to Rhodes W1 for afternoon tea and a manicure. She told me how she started out as nail technitian and after experimenting with different textures, Ciate was born. As a fan of coral, I opted for the summer shade nail polish which looked fab!
