Spa review: Sensasia Spa, Grand Plaza Movenpick Media City
It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a luxury haven to melt away our stresses after a hard day’s work in Media City, so it was music to our ears when we heard that a brand-new SPA by SensAsia had opened up in the Grand Plaza Movenpick Media City. A sleek sanctuary away from the frantic city pace, it comprises five unisex treatment rooms and a menu of bespoke massages, facials, scrubs and sensory journeys which we couldn’t wait to try out – literally.
First stop is the spa’s ‘bar’, where you’re invited to take your pick between a number of Oriental-inspired oils and argan butters such as orange blossom, vanilla and amber designed to customise your own unique experience. We opted for ‘The Revival’ journey, dubbed a no-mess, fuss-free alternative to hammam, which kicked off with full-body exfoliation. We were then invited to take a shower before being wrapped head-to-toe in a warmed ghassoul clay mask, in which we lay cocooned for 30 minutes while the therapist administered the most dreamy head massage.
Not part of the package, we opted for a 60-minute Melted Shea Butter Massage as an extra to conclude the treatment, which helped us forget all about deadlines, relaxing our bodies and minds to the point of sleep. If it’s relaxation you’re after, we highly recommend this addition. Post-massage we left with revitalised and deeply hydrated skin that’s still feeling silky smooth three days later!
What’s more, each treatment includes access to the hotel’s pool, sauna and steam room, so why not make a day of it? Welcome to Media City, SensAsia.
