Millionaire Snoop Dogg has been hit with a lawsuit from three former bodyguards who allege they were underpaid and overworked for years.
The Drop it Like it's Hot hit-maker's former security employees, Torrey Mitchell, Donnel Murray, and Ryan Turk, filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday claiming that they were fired earlier this year after complaining about their working conditions.
In the legal documents, the men accuse the hip-hop star of evading California laws which require employers to pay overtime after the mandated eight hours of work.
In addition, the trio claim they could only sleep for three hours a day while 42 year-old Snoop, who has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, was on tour, were not given proper breaks, while adding that records of their hours worked were never kept.
Mitchell, Murray and Turk also name their supervisor, Al Gittens, security firm Gerber & Co. and Beach City Music, in the lawsuit, and also allege the rapper of making them run errands for him and his family, including driving to "recording studios, clubs, concerts, red carpet affairs, and his separate apartment used for entertaining his many female acquaintances".
The plaintiffs are seeking Dhs10.38 million including overdue wages, general, compensatory and punitive damages, plus all legal fees from the songwriter who is currently working on his last solo studio album under the moniker Snoop Dogg.
