We always worry that some stars are eating too little but the latest celeb obsession has us worrying that they’re also hitting the gym too often. We’ve already seen A-listers like Madonna beef up to unnatural levels and now it seems that Victoria Beckham, Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus and Adele are jumping on the bandwagon.
Posh has admitted she became addicted to exercise when trying to shed her baby weight after Harper was born, telling Vogue, “I worked out a lot. I ran a lot. I did it six days a week. I become quite obsessive when I get into something.” The first sign of trouble was shortly after the birth when the insecure 36-year-old mother of four admitted she would rather hide at home than go to an event, saying, “I would have felt much more comfortable in my pyjamas with the kids and David.”
Anne Hathaway is on our watchlist after rumours surfaced that she’s on an extreme 500 calorie-a-day diet and exercise plan to drop 16lbs in just 20 days. Her publicist said she is losing enough weight to make her look “more frail” for her role as a dying woman in a film adaptation of Les Miserables.
Also on our list is Miley Cyrus, who seems to be going to extremes to keep her beau Liam Hemsworth. Last month rumours circulated that they were engaged, but after this turned out to be false, she’s been spotted going to Pilates classes more frequently. Now magazine said she may have become addicted to the buzz of exercise after she was snapped showing off protruding hips. We reckon she’s scared of losing Liam after his flick The Hunger Games premiered to huge audiences in March.
Adele is another cause for concern. The singer and her beau Simon Konecki have become vegetarians and started an aggressive jogging routine, losing more than a stone each over the last month. A friend told the Daily Mail, “The weight is dropping off them and they plan to keep dieting until the end of April.”
