Siddharta Lounge Opens at Grosvenor House
Siddharta Lounge in Grosvenor House’s new second tower launched last night. We’re pleased to report that Dubai’s first cool evening of the season coincided with the event, so the largely outdoor event didn’t dissolve into a sweat-bath. Despite it being a Sunday, the place was soon packed and, unusually for Dubai’s blasé party crowd, most guests adhered to the “white and golden delicious” dress code.
Siddharta’s Sea of Colour
Though we were hoping someone would come dressed as an apple (Golden Delicious, geddit?), we weren’t disappointed by the effort made. A sea of white and gold glittered around the open-air pool and bar, and for once it wasn’t just the waiting staff following the colour theme. Even the VIP carpet leading to the elevator at the hotel’s entrance was white rather than traditional red.
Once whisked up to the mezzanine level of Siddharta Lounge, we witnessed a saxophonist (also dressed in white) threading his melody into the DJ’s tracks while three silhouetted dancers gyrated behind windows overlooking Siddharta Lounge. See the dancers in action here:

Canapés, as you would expect from the Grosvenor House team, were a bit special: marinated king prawns on skewers, lamb kofte, deep-fried tofu with sweet chilli sauce, bite-sized circles of calamari with a spicy marie-rose sauce, mini burgers and fresh fruit sushi, not to mention free-flowing bubbles and cocktails.
Playing Dress up at Siddharta Lounge
Dress-up photo booths are the latest party must-have, and of course this soiree had one. Props in white and gold ranged from feather boas to inflatable ghetto-blasters. If you were among the people playing dress-up in the booth, visit www.fb.com/photobooth-ME to see your pictures.
Yip, a glamorous night was had by all, and with such sparkling beginnings, you can expect to see the new Siddharta Lounge as a regular among Dubai’s ‘top 10’ lists.
