The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development has ordered outlets to stop serving shisha, in a bid to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and now Dubai has followed suit.
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have also issued a nation-wide ban on the smoking of shisha.
A circular from the DED released on Wednesday stated: “In line with prevention measures for coronavirus, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development directs all licensed restaurants and shisha cafes across Abu Dhabi to cease providing shisha in their facilities."
The ruling includes hotels, coffee shops and is effective immediately.
And on Thursday, the Dubai Media Office confirmed that Dubai would also see similar measures for two weeks.
