Sheikh Mohammed Launches 'Reading Nation' Campaign
Good Deed: Make a donation and help children to have access to knowledge

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, introduced a Ramadan campaign that will distribute five million books for children in refugee camps and students in underprivileged schools around the world.

Companies can donate between Dhs500, 000 and Dhs10 million to Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, Sharjah Islamic Bank and Emirates Islamic Bank. Special platforms will be set up in shopping malls in order for everyone to make cash donations. Etisalat and Du Telecommunications will also dedicate free phone numbers to donate during the Holy Month – for every Dhs10 donation, a book is given to the cause.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated: "We plan to move from feeding the hungry to nurturing minds”. He added: “Our religion encourages us to seek knowledge that paves the way towards building civilisations. Books do, indeed, facilitate people's journey to enlightenment and help secure a prosperous future.”
