Since her arrival in the emirate back in 2007, the Canadian DJ has certainly made an impact on the Dubai airwaves, scooping the Ahlan! award for ‘Best Female Personality in Dubai’ in 2013 for her energetic mid-morning show on Radio 1. Originally a singer in her hometown, Sheena began her career in radio working in the background as a marketing executive but her star quality soon shone through and her natural vocal ability on the mic saw her offered the opportunity to try her hand at presenting.

Now living her self-confessed “dream life”, centred around her passion for music, Sheena decided to widen her horizons by building her own website on the video blog ‘My Dubai, My City’ called ‘Kid Talk’, an introduction perhaps to her more visual career aspirations in the future. “I have always wanted to be like Oprah and make a difference in people’s lives the way she has, so maybe in the future we could have a televised version of ‘The Sheena Show!’”

With 2013 having been the bubbly star’s most successful year thus far in professional terms, it has also marked a turning point in the importance of looking after herself. “Last year was a year of great personal growth for me. I’ve realised that I need to prioritise my health, so I have adopted a healthy eating and workout regime and I’ve also taken the time to learn a bit more about myself and my spirituality. I guess you could say that it’s the year that I started to feel a little more like an adult… just!”
