A Sharjah Ruler orders woman to be hired after radio programme plea
An Emirati woman whose plea for work on a local radio station was heard by the Sharjah Ruler and has landed her a new job.
The 30-year-old and mother of two called Al Khat Al Mubasher radio programme on Monday to tell her struggles to find work, after being let of her from her old job for ‘insufficient skills’.
Her plight was heard by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, who issued a directive to authorities to find her a job that suited her skillset.
Umm Omar used work as an executive secretary at Sharjah Media City in Shams last year before she was fired, just after three and a half months into her new position.
The radio programme host decided to contact the director of Sharjah Media City, Shihab Alhammadi, who said that the Emirati woman had very good skills but was unable to meet the positions requirements which led to her being fired.
Umm Omar has a degree in Human Resource Management and was hoping to find a new job, but to her delight on Wednesday, she received a phone call from the Sharjah directorate of human resources saying an appointment had been scheduled for her to sign her employment contract at the Sharjah Media City, as per the orders of the Sharjah ruler.
