Shane Warne’s Been Tamed
They haven’t even been dating for a year, but that didn’t stop Shane Warne popping the question to Liz Hurley in a crowded restaurant. The former Australian cricketer chose an exclusive hotel in Scotland to propose, where he was staying to compete in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
A source said, “As soon as people realised what was going on, and realised Liz had said yes, everyone in the restaurant went crazy. Most of the other diners were VIPs and former golf champions, and they all cheered and gave a standing ovation.”
“The couple were clearly delighted and spent the rest of the weekend pretty much attached to each other.”
Responding to positive messages from the public, she tweeted: “Thanks for all your congratulations,” adding a picture of herself and Warne taken just before the proposal.
The couple first met via a mutual friend in July last year, and have spent a lot of time together ever since.
Since starting to date Liz, Shane has completely changed his image. He’s lost weight, is less scruffy and looks younger, although he denies surgery.
Shane is considered to be one of the best cricket bowlers of all time, but had less success staying faithful to his former wife Simone Callahan, who he divorced in 2006. They then got back together again before he walked out on her for Liz.
Although Liz was still married to textiles heir Arun Nayar when she met Shane, they had already filed for separation after four years of marriage and were officially divorced in June. Prior to Arun, Liz dated Hugh Grant for 13 years until 2000.
