See Amazing 3D Art at JBR The Beach in Dubai!
If you go down to JBR today you could be forgiven for doing a double take.
Shopping and dining zone The Beach has been taken over by artists whose work sends onlookers into another dimension.
Dubai Canvas Festival brings internationally respected street artists to showcase their super-surreal pieces and even to create new ones in front of onlookers’ eyes.
They include pioneers of 3D street art including Americans Kurt Wenner and Julie Kirk-Purcell, Germany’s Peter Westerink, Italian Anthony Cappetto and Juandrés Vera, from Mexico.
Kurt Wenner will give a lecture and specialised workshops and art shows, and there’ll also be activities for kids. At the end of the week, some of the creations will be taken on tour all over the city.
The event’s been organised by Brand Dubai, part of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO). Its Director-General, Mona Al Marri, said Dubai Canvas Festival was set up with the aim of promoting artistry and innovation in the emirate.
“Through Brand Dubai, we are trying to introduce different forms of art to people,” she said.
“We believe innovation is one of Dubai’s genuine values and has always been integral part of Dubai’s achievements. We are dedicated to translate these values into reality and endorse UAE’s position as home for creativity, innovation and happiness.”
Al Marri added that Dubai Canvas Festival would provide a new cultural ‘bridge’ for international artists as well as giving Emirati artists an opportunity to shadow their skills, while helping to realise the dream of converting Dubai into an ‘open museum’, as envisioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
