Scarlett Johansson’s Fully Booked

Scarlett Johansson has scored a major own goal with her latest legal battle. The Avengers actress is suing French author Gregoire Delacourt because he mentions her in a fictional novel. And not only that, she’s trying to stop the seemingly harmless book being translated into other languages because she’s not authorised use of her moniker. In the story, a mechanic meets a woman who he – as a character – thinks at first is Scarlett Johansson because the woman apparently looks like her. Sixty pages later it is revealed the mechanic was mistaken and the woman is in fact someone else, called Jeanine Foucaprez. The author has revealed he was ‘stunned’ by the lawsuit after the book became a bestseller in France. Perhaps Scarlett should take a leaf out of the book of famed writer George Bernard Shaw, who once said: “Imitation is not just the sincerest form of flattery – it’s the sincerest form of learning.”
