Saudi Arabia is building a tower taller than Burj Khalifa! Wait, WHAT?!
Dubai's iconic Burj Khalifa, which measures 2,716 feet, currently holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s tallest building. Not for long! It has now been reported that Saudi Arabia plans to construct a 3,280 feet skyscraper to be completed in 2020.
The tower, which will be named Jeddah Tower, is currently built up to the 26th floor and will have 170 floors. According to the Saudi government, the Kingdom Holding Co said its affiliate, Jeddah Economic Company, reached a financing deal of over two billion dollars with Saudi Arabia’s Alinma Investment to finish the Jeddah Tower.
Mounib Hammoud, Chief Executive Officer of Jeddah Economic Company, said: “With this deal, we will reach new, as yet unheard of highs in real estate development, and will fulfil the company's objective of creating a world-class urban centre that offers an advanced lifestyle, so that Jeddah may have a new iconic landmark that attracts people from all walks of society with comprehensive services and a multitude of uses.”
Alwaleed bin Talal mentioned that the tower which will feature apartments, a hotel, and offices, will be completed in 2020.
