Sartorial Spotlight: Simone Heng

Virgin Radio Presenter and creator of Simone Heng, lets Ahlan! into her stylish life...

When she isn’t hosting the hit Virgin Radio show Lowdown with Simone, Ms Heng is busy encouraging women to live by the “Prada lifestyle on a Topshop budget” motto through her DIY fashion and lifestyle blog, We decided to take a look into the 29-year-old’s wardrobe to find out the secret to looking this chic all the time.

Describe your style.
A lot of vintage combined with modern pieces. I’m a massive bargain hunter and it’s taken me 14 years to get just the right mixture.

Which celeb’s style do you love?
Solange Knowles – I really like that she isn’t afraid to use lots of colour.

And which celebrity’s style hurts your eyes?
Jennifer Lawrence’s – I think stylists impose onto her what‘s in fashion, rather than what actually suits her shape.

Who is your style icon?
Olivia Palmero - she’s the ultimate fashionista!

Favourite designer?
I don’t wear many designer pieces, but if I had to choose it would be Chanel; clean and chic.

Favourite high-street store?
I’m a sucker for Topshop because their Petite collection fits me so well and I also love the brand COS. Their basic T-shirts have changed my life!

And what’s your favourite online store?
Sophie’s Closet, as I can pay by cash when they deliver to my house. Their jewellery collection is amazing, especially the pieces by Kenneth Jay Lane.

What’s currently on your ‘to-buy-list’?
Coloured blazers to wear with boyfriend jeans, a basic T-shirt and a statement necklace.

Top trends for next season?
I know that I’m a bit late with this but I absolutely love the platform trainer trend as they are so comfortable, especially for work! I’m also really into wearing sportswear as casual wear.

And the best piece of fashion advice you’ve ever been given?
As you get older it’s important to tone your style down. I still look young, but I used to wear a lot of Audrey Hepburn inspired fluffy skirts and floral vintage prints. As I’ve grown older I’ve learned to simplify and pair down my outfits which works really well.
