Ahlan! delves into Garderobe’s Micha Maatouk's sartorial style

Micha Maatouk is a businesswoman and mother, but she always makes time for style. With her own Dubai boutique, Garderobe, the fashion-forward entrepreneur is constantly surrounded by beautiful clothes, so it’s no wonder her own wardrobe is crammed with incredible high street and designer pieces. She shared with Ahlan! her secrets of being a style queen.

How would you describe your style?
I have a classic look but I add an edgy twist to glam it up in the evening. I use a lot of accessories to spice up my style.

Tell us how fashion influences you.
It inspires me in everything I do. Fashion is everywhere and in everything, not just in clothing.

What would you say makes your life fashionable?
My pre-loved luxury fashion boutique, Garderobe, means I’m constantly surrounded by beautiful fashion pieces. From Burberry to Louis Vuitton, local women donate their pre-loved clothes to my store so that lucky ladies can get to experience the same high fashion – at a great price.

Who’s your style icon?
Grace Kelly – elegant and classic.

Which celebrity’s style do you love?
Olivia Palermo – she always looks flawless.

And who’s getting it wrong?
Miley Cyrus.

Favourite designer?
Alaïa is my favourite, but of course I also love Chanel and Céline.

Favourite high street stores?
Zara, Topshop and H&M

And your favourite online store?
Net-A-Porter.com, Stylebop.com and MyTheresa.com. I can’t choose just one!

What are you top trends for S/S14?
The art trend that we saw on the catwalk at Prada and Chanel. I also love tribal.

Best piece of fashion advice you’ve ever been given?
It wasn’t given directly to me, but I truly believe in something that Alexander McQueen once said: “There is beauty in everything.” I interpret this to mean that what might not be beautiful for some people will be beautiful to others.

What items are you currently lusting after?
The Saint Laurent “Betty” bag, some bold-coloured Prada sunglasses – the ones decorated with big stones on the frame – and a pair of the iconic Chanel trainers, in tweed.
