British royal Pprincess Beatrice is engaged to be married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York announced the news on Thursday, after the Italian property developer proposed to their eldest daughter during a weekend vacation in Italy earlier this month.
“We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride," they said in a statement. "We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man.
"We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future.”
Beatrice, who is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and ninth in line for the throne, and Edoardo gushed they're "extremely happy" to share the news, adding: "We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.
"We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
Edoardo is the son of former British Olympic skier Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, and the couple is believed to have begun dating last year. They attended their first official royal family event together at the wedding of Beatrice's second cousin once removed, Lady Gabriella Windsor, in May this year.
