Robin Williams memorial service took place on Sunday in his adopted home in San Francisco, California. Attended by family and close friends only, the funeral was a rather quiet and intimate event, as planned by his close relatives.

Robin Williams, who was battling the early stages of Parkinson's disease and severe depression took his life on 11 August at his home in Tiburon, California. Williams was found by his personal assistant, who notified the authorities. The cause of death was later confirmed as 'asphyxia due to hanging'.

The life of the well-loved comedian and Oscar winner was celebrated at the Glide Memorial Church, although a crowd of fans at the church came to say goodbye to Williams, according to NBC Bay Area.

Rev. Cecil Williams, who lead the memorial service, told the attending funeral-goers: "He was just a good laugh and a good soul with what he said and what he did and how he did it.
