ROBBIE WILLIAMS has ended speculation he is set to marry his long term girlfriend, insisting he is "not engaged".
The British singer appeared to ask actress Ayda Field to be his wife during a guest slot on Australian radio station 2Day FM on Friday morning. The singer maintained the engagement was real throughout the show, but a representative for the Angels hitmaker subsequently announced it was a joke.
Rob's mum waded into the debate later on Friday, claiming the proposal was the real thing by telling British radio station BBC Radio 5 live her son told her about his plans to pop the question "a week ago".
But the 35-year-old star is determined to set the story straight, and has taken to his official website to end the rumours.
Under the heading "Robbie And Ayda: Are They Or Aren't They?", Rob writes, "Hey all. We are not engaged. Rob."
