While Rihanna is no stranger to fashion week – we regularly spot our fave bad gal sitting FROW at everyone from Alexander Wang to Kanye – this season marks the first time she’s actually shown ON the catwalk. RiRi presented her first collection for Puma, Fenty x Puma, to fashion’s elite during New York Fashion Week this weekend, sending out Nineties-inspired streetwear, new iterations of her 2015 creeper sneaker and rucksacks and bumbags that are set to be huge for 2016.
The front row was as star-studded as one would expect, with Wale, Chris Rock and Anna Wintour sitting centre, while Naomi Campbell and Jeremy Scott turned up to support RiRi, too. But it was all eyes on the catwalk, with top models Imaan Hammam, Gigi and Bella Hadid and Taylor Hill among the faces strutting in her styles, all with white painted hair and black lippie. Dubbed ‘Wealthgoth’ with a transfusion of street glamour, the singer debuted deconstructed styles with gothic touches including lace-up bodysuits and chokers adding drama to basic essentials.
Good news for dudes, too – Fenty x Puma includes menswear, so expect your fella to be dressed in puffer jackets, hoodies and furry pullovers when autumn strikes.
Good work, girl!
