What does Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and a ‘famous scientologist’ all have in common? Answer: They were all victims of Ricky Gervais’ caustic wit at the 2011 Golden Globes.
His cutting remarks went viral on YouTube and sparked outrage in Celebville. Who else would have the nerve to suggest that Jolie and Depp’s acting was one-dimensional – to their faces?!
After his shocking opening monologue and, we’re guessing, more than a few angry calls from agents and PAs, it was assumed that Ricky would never be allowed to host so much as a tea party in T’Town again, but not so. The gutsy show hosts have invited Ricky back to host the 2012 Golden Globes next January and the UK comic is clearly excited.
Yesterday in-yer-face Gervais posted the notorious clip of his opening monolgue on Twitter and tweeted, “This x 10. I'm telling you now, if you don't like it... f*** you!”. Though how he can be any more insulting is beyond the scope of our imagination. See for yourself here (warning: footage contains adult themes):
