Review: New Breakfast at The Ivy
Classic scrambled eggs and smoked salmon

INFO: The Boulevard, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, 04 319 8767,

Late breakfast is one of those indulgent joys reserved for laidback weekends and The Ivy’s version is a real treat. I have a mild obsession with Hollandaise sauce – eggs Benedict, Arlington, Florentine – you name it, I’m into it. The Ivy’s eggs Benedict dish (Dhs35) is rich and lusciously coated with that gorgeous golden sauce, and the ham set below the perfectly poached egg is full of smoky flavour. My only criticism is that there’s just one egg in the serving – Benedict should always be a double act. The classic marriage of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon (Dhs35) is light and fluffy with delicate, oily fish – it’s not groundbreaking, but it delivers. For Brit faves there’s a sinfully delicious – and very well-priced – bacon sandwich (Dhs20) and a full English breakfast (Dhs90) featuring blood pudding. If you’re that way inclined I’d recommend a side order of bacon whatever your menu choice – it’s the real deal.
