REVIEW: Al Nafoorah’s Ramadan Tent, Jumeirah Emirates Towers

29 Jul 2013

The Lebanese eatery in the iconic Jumeirah Emirates Towers offers iftar with an outdoor feel in air-conditioned comfort this summer

Refined Lebanese is always a treat, especially when it’s presented with aplomb. With Al Nafoorah’s signature dishes marked out on the menu, we’d advise you to order a selection to guarantee you’ll get the traditional favourites, but with a bit of elevation. The hummus, paired with cumin and roasted pine nuts, has an extra depth of flavour, paired with mousse-like creaminess. The Al Nafoorah salad is a refreshing and palate-cleansing break as you make your way through the mezze. A dish not to be missed is the chicken livers with pomegranate sauce. Chopped into bite-sized morsels and pan fried until slightly crispy, the subtly sweet sauce counters the richness and mineral quality of the liver. The signature grill offers a great selection of sausages, shrimp, chicken, lamb and beef. While the shrimp could do with less cooking, the red meat was perfectly tender. For dessert, the traditional cream with honey and pistachios is at the tipping point between cream and cheese and is therefore not overly sweet. The mahalabiya – milk pudding with rose water – is on the watery side, but nonetheless provides that sweet, warming comfort.
