Find out more about the biggest girl band get-togethers of 2017

Are they or aren’t they? Ahlan! brings you up to date on the world’s biggest girl band get-togethers of 2017...

SPICE GIRLS: BACK ON

Perhaps the most anticipated comeback in pop music, it’s safe to say the Spice Girls reunion has been an epic mess. Let’s bring you up to speed: Wannabe, their debut single, turned 20 last year, sparking 20th anniversary tour talks. Victoria Beckham and Melanie C declined, which left Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel B to reform under a new acronym, GEM (huh?), and announce a 2017 tour. Geri then fell pregnant and dropped out, then everything went quiet. Now the trio are said to be back on track following Mel B’s split from hubby, Stephen Belafonte. An insider source revealed: “Stephen was always an unnerving presence. Now he’s out of the way, fun will return.” Speaking to The Sun, Geri confirmed the group will in fact reunite. She said: “We’re not re-forming immediately, but in the near future.” Hopefully that gives them time to convince Posh and Sporty to join in.

GIRLS ALOUD: NO SHOW

It’s been 15 years since Popstars: The Rivals introduced us to Girls Aloud, and despite reforming for their tenth anniversary, a similar celebration for their next milestone is apparently not in the pipeline. And surprise, surprise, Cheryl Cole is reportedly behind the decision not to get back together. The source revealed: “Just like Victoria Beckham and the Spice Girls, the band is a part of Cheryl’s history. She’s in no rush to revisit and after having her baby boy [with Liam Payne], she’s taking at least six months off work.” Apparently bandmate Kimberley Walsh didn’t want to put any pressure on Chez either. The source continued: “Kimberley doesn’t want to put pressure on her during this already stressful time, as much as she’d love to reform the band.” Sad face.

DESTINY’S CHILD: FRIENDS FOREVER

The problem with Destiny’s Child is that they reunite often, but it’s usually behind closed doors. Boo! It’s no secret that Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle are good friends, but with Beyonce’s career at an all-time high, it seems unlikely that they’ll reform the band for an album or tour. However the trio did reunite briefly last week. Bey posted an adorable photo of the three together on Instagram, while promoting Kelly’s new parenting book. While it makes our hearts happy that the girls are still as tight as ever, we really could do with a couple more performances of Independant Women. Here’s hoping.
