There was some question, when it first opened back in 2010, as to whether celeb chef’s Gary Rhodes latest venture Twenty10 could live up to its hype. Dubai foodies are notoriously fickle and spoilt for choice when it comes to high-end steakhouses, yet in spite of the competition Twenty10 has come out on top. Service is impeccable – waiters hover invisibly, appearing like magic just before your last sip of vino, or even before you realise that you’d like to look at the menu again. Food is British-inspired and, unlike most eateries in the Emirates, is somewhat seasonal – the menu is changed three or four times a year to fit in with the growth cycles of European produce to ensure only the best ingredients make it onto diners’ plates.
Luckily, at the suggestion of our waiter, we started with the chicken liver parfait – it wasn’t something we would’ve originally chosen but were glad we did. Like a lighter version of a patè, smeared liberally on toasted brioche and with a dollop of chutney, it was seriously moreish and – since all starters are designed for sharing – was generously sized. The signature Rhodes Twenty10 burger was the standout dish though. The bun is optional and we recommend going without – the meat, with the accompaniment of foie gras and roast confit potato, is more than enough to satisfy your tastebuds. Although a little pricey, it’s well worth a splurge – calorie and cash-wise.
