Chocolate fanatics, you’ve met your match! The Valrhona Grand Crue Chocolate Creation is a smorgasbord of Sayad’s best masterpieces made with cocoa. There’s chocolate mousse, chocolate fondant, chocolate sorbet, chocolate truffle, chocolate and orange float, and – our fave – chocolate brûlée, all served on an impressively large platter to share.
Before you get there, devour the dramatic spread that is the Sayad’s cerviche and tartare platter – it’s loaded with fresh raw fish, each variety diced and coated in its own interesting dressing. The snapper in the Japanese spice togarashi wins ‘best in show’ in our opinion. If you have room for a main course between these two attention-seekers, we recommend the Arabic spiced grilled salmon with date marmalade, which gives a local twist to this seafood feast.
In cooler months book a seat on the terrace by the tinkling fountain, and when it’s hot take up residence in the serenity of the Tiffany-blue interior. Before leaving, ask your maitre ‘d for an explanation on the salt display, some of which are worth mega bucks!
