With its imperial red and dark wood colour scheme, Royal China’s interior gives your meal a sense of occasion. In fact, with the recent introduction of an exclusive 25-seat private dining room, it’s an ideal venue to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. Turning our attention to the food, it’s as good as you’d get in Hong Kong with melt-in-your-mouth dim sum and all the sauces you know and love, particularly XO and black bean. A mixed dim sum platter is the best starting point, and it would be sacrilege to leave Royal China without sampling the crispy aromatic duck with paper-thin pancakes, sweet hoisin sauce and refreshing cucumber. For the main event any seafood with their magical XO sauce will hit the spot with its garlic-infused, spicy, fishy flavours. For a contrasting taste try the lemon chicken, it’s far from the sickly sweet variety you may have encountered before, but rather a balance of citrus with a hint of sweet against the juicy, tender chicken. With cold desserts known to aid digestion, the chilled coconut sago pudding and the green tea ice cream are the ideal end to your culinary journey through Hong Kong.
