Being ushered into The Armani Hotel’s Ristorante is akin to walking down a red carpet. The hostess hands you over to your waiter (or waiters for that matter), and you’re tucked comfortably into a sleek, scooped-out couch with a cushion behind your back. What follows is an opera of food, each course more magnificent than the last, with plating so beautiful you will feel almost distressed at having to destroy the edible artistry. The degustation menu, a special, is composed of a series of beautifully orchestrated dishes. Each course is brought to the table by at least two waiters who painstakingly explain every decadent ingredient and detail. From the risotto scampi, the fresh flaky bread, tender roasted veal fillet and rich foie gras to the inexplicably masterful desserts, you will be overwhelmed with the sheer perfection of what is presented to you. However, the moment that will definitely leave you dumbfounded is when the pièce de resistance, dessert, arrives at the table. ‘The Sphere’ is a sheer sugar shell blown out in the manner of glass holds gooey hazelnut delight. The shell itself is coated with real gold and literally melts at the touch. Ristorante epitomises the comfort of Italian food at its luxurious best.
