Whether you love traditional or experimental Indian cuisine, Rang Mahal by Atul Kochhar will impress you no end. Don’t let the low ceilings and private seating areas fool you; the lounge area opens up to a massive room with palatial carved wood columns, authentic Indian murals and pulsing beats. Of the three chutneys accompanying the papad, the mango achaar chutney is handsdown the best, and an interesting take on the typical pickle. After the divine amuse bouche of chilled watermelon topped with masala cream cheese, order the refreshing soft-shell crab, which is served with a dollop of coriander chutney, crunchy peanut salad and a side of thinly sliced apples. The lamb chops are soft, tender and cooked in a fennel and tellicherry pepper marinade. We highly recommend the classic chicken tikka curry, slow-simmered black lentils, pulao rice and laccha paratha for your mains. Make sure to save some space for the chocolate peanut butter tube – peanut butter parfait served with jaggery cake, ginger and fennel ice-cream – simply scrumptious!
