Mijana’s design is the most refreshingly modern take on traditional Arabic motifs we’ve ever seen. The glass panels sectioning out the dining area are embossed with a mashrabiya pattern that’s reflected in the two-tone wall-coverings. These creative design elements, combined with pops of bright blue from the upholstery and light wood, make it an aesthetically beautiful departure from every other restaurant serving regional cuisine.

The menu features all the staple favourites, with cold and hot mezze leading on to meat and seafood-focused grills. The hummus is impossibly velvety thanks to a generous amount of tahini and is topped with little chunks of peppery lamb. The textures play off each other perfectly as you scoop up a mouthful in the warm, freshly baked bread. A seafood grill to share is ideal for a date and family dining alike. It features shellfish and fish that’s simply seasoned with the subtle smokiness of the charcoal grill. Traditional desserts such as the warm date sponge and umm ali are a sweet, satisfying wind-down. Make sure to round off your evening with shisha overlooking the Grand Mosque.
