Reviewing this menu just before Ramadan, we admit we splurged a little. First up, appetisers: we had popcorn shrimp and ranch dressing with actual pieces of popcorn in it; sundried pineapple and burrata cheese was a new take on the normal mozzarella, tomato and basil; then came crispy shredded crab sushi rolls and, last but not least, black truffle and Fontina pizza. If you haven’t tried truffle before, get down to Market and initiate yourself with this earthy more-ish Italian dish.
New to the Market menu is the ‘Simply Grilled’ section. A healthy option for breaking a fast, this selection of light low-fat dishes is perfect for late Ramadan dining . You chose your protein from an abundance of options, ranging from seafood to poultry, veal to Wagyu, and then all you need to do is pick your accompanying condiment and side order (avoid carbs as they’re hard to digest at night). At the recommendation of the Market team we had black cod with black pepper jam and soy-miso mustard, and a veg skewer. The moist flavoursome cod fell off our forks.
And finally, dessert: if you are a fan of Terry’s chocolate orange, try the orange soufflé, so light it minimises any feelings of pudding-guilt – that is until you open the top and pour in the vanilla cream (optional of course, but who could resist!).
