Restaurant Review: Lila Cafe
INFO: Ground Floor, MCN Hive, Section C, Tecom, 04 454 3064.
Nestled among the high-rise offices of Tecom, Lila is a purple and white oasis that stands out from the dull tones of the surrounding buildings. Inside is bright and urban, like a revamped industrial space, and there’s a quirky moving image museum upstairs. For the young working set of the area – Lila is an ideal lunch spot.
The menu ranges from breakfasts to salads, sandwiches and pastas, plus an open buffet and sweet section. The menu changes after 7pm to include dinner meals, like baked spicy meatballs with penne (Dhs44) and stuffed chicken rolls (Dhs36). Meanwhile, for a filling lunch opt for the steak sandwich (Dhs34) with tender moist beef with mushrooms and onions on a toasted olive ciabatta with crunchy lettuce and tomato. If you’re watching the carbs then try the signature Lila’s salad (Dhs35) featuring boiled eggs, chunks of turkey and sliced olives, although ask for the dressing on the side. If you need food that’s ready to eat, there’s an open buffet (Dhs40) that offers Arabic, Asian and vegetarian options. For dessert Lila Cafe has
A range of tempting sweets including a chocolate brownie for two. With shisha on the outdoor terrace in the evenings, this is a well-rounded spot that offers something for everyone and will, no doubt, be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
