Overlooking the beach and pool, Li Beirut’s al fresco dining area buzzes when the weather’s good and the hum of voices sets the tone for a cosy evening with Arabic food that’s far from what you’d expect. There is great attention to detail and creativity that goes into the preparation and presentation of the food, and the results are unexpected surprises that delight the eyes and the palate.

Start with the signature bread, baked in-house, with sundried tomato, halloumi cheese and a little bit of cumin, once you have a piece you’ll struggle to stop! Illustrative of Li Beirut’s marriage of different cuisines is the kibbeh with foie gras served with walnut chutney on the side and caramelised honey pear. Continue the play of regional flavours with the zaatar-crusted rack of lamb served with delicate layers of sweet potato and shavings of black truffle. The highlight of this already stellar meal comes in the form of the honey fudge. It’s dessert with a difference, not overly sweet, light and with refreshing and unusual olive oil ice cream.
