Leila’s interiors, much like its name, epitomises femininity at its best, albeit with a unique twist. With walls covered in a bright and cheery floral pattern, the overall ambience seems somehow steeped in the Sixties. In fact, the attention to detail is astonishing; right from the gramophone that stands proudly on display and sepia-toned pictures of glamorous stars of the bygone decade, to chairs decked in luxurious velvet, every aspect of the decor feels like it belongs in the vestiges of another era. While feasting on Lebanese flavours beautifully brought alive in choice dishes like the Alrahib, a healthy salad made of grilled eggplants, tomatoes, green pepper, mashed garlic and lemon sauce, or the fragrant and aromatic breads, hummus, fattoush and shish tawook, one thing becomes quickly clear – the decadence and unique burst of taste and texture are timeless. Dining at this cosy and unpretentious gem could very well be an everyday affair!
