Imagine a restaurant whose decor seems inspired as much by The Matrix as by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and you have Hukama, The Address Downtown Dubai’s über chic Chinese star. We’re talking floor-to-ceiling windows with the most incredible views of the Burj Khalifa, stylish room separators that spell sophistication from top to bottom, lights so dazzling and dizzying you’re almost expected to stare, and caged candle stands and urns with a contemporary nod to an age-old heritage.
Wondering what could top that first impression? Enter the food. It’s a mix of provincial Chinese creations and current culinary trends, perfectly put together to include everything from duck meat taro root dumplings and Sichuan-style hot and sour soup with lobster, to wok-fried radish cake with bean sprouts and sautéed eggplant with minced chicken. The quality of the setup and the dining choices mean that a meal at Hukama is a pricey affair. Infinitely worth it though, and there are always the set menu options (Dhs388, Dhs488 and Dhs688) and the Yum Cha lunch on Friday (Dhs145 per person) that you can try without blowing your budget.
