With an aperitif in hand, nestled into a pile of comfortable cushions on the terrace at Hakkasan Abu Dhabi, it’s easy to see why this modern Chinese restaurant has become such a hit with the capital’s sophisticated set. The usual suspects can be found, such as dim sum, but there are also subtle twists with dishes like the jasmine-tea-smoked ribs. The duck salad is the triumph of the meal – crisp, zingy and the meat is perfectly cooked. Mains also impress, with the steaming Sanpei chicken claypot coming out as a firm favourite alongside the black pepper rib-eye. With more than 15 or so dishes to choose from in each section of the menu, as well as gluten-free and allergy-free options available, every diner is surely catered for. Chef Lee Kok Hua has definitely brought a little of the magic of this stylish London hangout to the Emirates.
