When you head to a fish restaurant, you don’t want it to smell like an aquarium upon entering, you want a great selection and a little creativity with traditional dishes. And that’s exactly what Fish Market serves up. Designed just like a market place, the fish and shellfish are actually on display on beds of ice in the main dining room. Diners walk through the mini marketplace with servers and choose their own fish before it’s cooked – from tiger prawns to lobster, crab and plenty of fish like dorade and hilali.
The selection is impressive, the fish is fresh and the ways you can have it prepared – Chinese-style, grilled, in black bean sauce and so on – are explained in detail by the staff. There is also a selection of fresh vegetables to choose from in the market area, which is designed like a row of Thai-inspired straw-covered huts. We loved the relaxed ambiance and being surrounded by true foodies. Standout dishes include the jumbo tiger prawns, which we had grilled, full of flavour even without sauce; the Alaskan crab cooked Singapore-style; and the lobster prepared with red chilli.
