Restaurant Review: Emporio Armani Caffe, Mall of the Emirates
Mall meals with more class
When hunger strikes mid-mall trawl, avoid the temptation to drift towards fast food, which is usually a quick route to weight gain, bad skin and a host of other undesirable outcomes. Instead seek out a more refined dining experience and enjoy the moment.
I’m a fan of the deliciously, authentically Italian Emporio Armani Caffe – the menu is huge, and comes in two forms, paper and iPad with pictures of all the dishes, which is a tech-savvy way to see what you really fancy.
Fuel weekend shopping trips with breakfast, served from 8am to 4pm, with dishes ranging from egg white frittata with peppers and onions (Dhs40) to a special eggs Benedict with salmon and Parmesan fondue (Dhs62).
Fancy something light for lunch? I recommend a simple burrata starter (Dhs89) or a sesame-crusted tuna salad with mixed leaves and picked aubergines (Dhs105).
Need something more substantial? There are steaks the size of house bricks, wholesome seafood stews and ample grilled fish fillets – the sea bass with olives is a crowd-pleaser. There’s also a wide choice of classic pizzas, risottos and pastas – we’re talking the good stuff here. Ever heard of maltagliati? It’s a flat sheet pasta from the Emilia-Romagna region and Emporio Armani Caffe serves it with earthy porcini mushroom and black truffle – it wouldn’t win any beauty contests, but the Italian clientele know this is as good as mamma used to make.
