Right from the high-arched ceilings and exquisite white marble, to the lush draping of silk, everything about the Diwan L’Auberge seems larger than life. With sumptuous platters of fruits and vegetables, shanklish, or cheese cubes mixed with onions, parsley and tomatoes; the generosity of the culture of the Arab culinary tradition is evident indeed. While all the dishes are worthy of a sampling, our favourites are the grilled hammour fillet, topped with lemon-garlic sauce and served with sautéed vegetables and saffron rice. Other culinary delights include staple dishes, such as hummus, kibbeh, fattoush and an abundance of seafood choices, such as the lobster thermidor, fried shrimps and sea bass fillet. Be sure to save some room for the delectable Mhallabieh pudding (milk pudding topped with blanched almonds, pistachio and raisins), it’s our firm favourite and we’re sure you won’t regret it!
