Restaurant Review: Choix Patisserie and Restaurant, InterContinental Dubai Festival City
Reflets par Pierre Gagnaire is legendary in terms of Dubai’s fine dining scene and the restaurant in InterContinental Dubai Festival City has won massive acclaim over the years. Enter Monsieur Gagnaire’s new enfant – a bright and breezy all-day dining spot in the foyer of the same hotel.
The menu is designed to go from day to night and there’s an open pastry counter displaying a beautiful array of bakes and delicate desserts to enjoy while lounging on a sofa or to take home. The options for breakfast are simple and very French, with items like croissants, brioche and pain au chocolat on offer. For something warm, opt for an omelette or Choix’s eggs Benedict’ish, which comprises poached egg, fresh goat’s cheese, avocado and Melba toast.
When you consider Pierre Gagnaire’s name is on the board, the breakfast prices are surprisingly modest. Another thing that was good to see is the incorporation of local ingredients and flavours, particularly in the ‘local favourite’ smoothie made with camel milk and date paste, and the ‘hommage à Dubai’ – a camel milk pannacotta with saffron cake and dates – both of which are absolute musts!
Throughout the day you can order light bites created with that exceptional flair and technical skill that earns you Michelin stars. The dishes are largely French, such as foie gras terrine, ratatouille Provençal and beef tartare, and all are plated to perfection.
