It’s impossible not to be swept away by Bussola. It not only strikes the right mix between casual and gourmet dining (high-end ingredients served in rustic, sharing-sized portions), but its location overlooking the twinkling lights of the Palm Jumeirah is hard to beat. While the restaurant is split over two levels, with a more formal section downstairs, we recommend the terrace above, which is as close to al fresco pizza heaven as you’ll get outside of Italy.
It’s pretty difficult to pull off authentic Italian fare without dispatching a swine or two, and the starter platter of antipasto di salumi misti didn’t disappoint, incorporating generous swathes of speck and salami. The main event here, however, is the pizza. Served with thin crusts straight from a wood oven, they are regarded as some of the best in Dubai. Be prepared to overindulge – we bet you can’t walk away leaving a single slice on your plate.

“The pizza in Italy may be good but it can’t beat having a pizza on the beach with one of the city’s greatest views at Bussola”
