The venue is decked out like a luxury yacht with low ceilings and gleaming lacquered wood throughout. Though the colour brown (walls, carpets and leather chairs) is perhaps overused, it’s really the view outside At.Mosphere Grill that most people come to look at, and though dishes are expensive, if you were planning on paying the ticket price to visit the observation deck on the floor above, then the meal-with-view option makes more sense.
Every effort has been made to make this a five-star dining experience, from sophisticated amuse bouche (eel salad, green tea jelly and apple foam palette cleanser, coming right up) to the bespoke cutlery. You may never have noticed, but Emaar’s restaurants pay special attention to cutlery and At.Moshere is no exception. On the 122nd floor of Burj Khlaifa, At.Mos’ attractive ceramic-handle steak knives are branded 122.
We were also impressed with the cauliflower veloute starter. Our bowl arrived minus the soup with a centrepiece of miso cod surrounded by jet black morel mushrooms, then the creamy cauliflower brew was poured over the top for maximum steamy drama. Perfectly cooked in every way, it tasted luxurious.
For mains, we tried the Josper menu. A Josper is a special type of oven powdered by charcoal rather than gas or electricity and the meat it produces has the crispiest skin. From Wagyu to Angus, you get to pick your beef, a sauce and a side and though the dishes are basic, they’re tasty.
The biggest ‘wow’ comes with dessert. Order the signature Classic 122 Sphere. The hot chocolate sauce poured over the Easter egg-like dome of hard chocolate melts the ice cream encased within so that, when you crack into it, the liquid ice cream cascades over the brownie cake and nutty espresso mousse base. Like we said, WOW.
