Reform Social & Grill
We love the vibe at this family-friendly outlet. It’s a popular haunt among Dubai’s residents, which was the first true gastropub to hit our shores. A spacious patio and large garden overlooking an artificial lake, where the kids can play and an old-style ice cream parlour add to its charm.
Friday brunch is vibrant and often fully-booked, despite running a day and night offering, so make a reservation. Part of its allure lies in its comforting spread which begins with a campsite picnic platter to share, including favourites such as scotch eggs and smoked mackerel pate, before tucking into hearty mains which range from a full English breakfast to Lancashire hotpot and fish and chips. We recommend elastic waistbands, or you’ll never be able to fit in the dessert classics of sticky toffee pudding or apple and plum crumble.
Treat someone to afternoon tea. It needs to be booked 48 hours in advance but it’s an exclusive, quintessentially British experience, with a selection of delicate sandwiches and sweet fancies to be enjoyed with a nice hot cuppa or a chilled glass of bubbly.
Can’t be bothered to cook? Head to Reform’s family feast, where you and your tribe can tuck into a choice of main each and three sides to share, plus a visit to the ice cream parlour, for just Dhs295 for a family of 4 (Sun-Thu 12noon-7pm).
Special events, to add a touch of magic to festivities. From Christmas to NYE, this place serves up tradition by the bucket load for homesick expats.
