When Syrian-born Reem first moved to Dubai in 1994, she was a full-time mother to five-year-old twin daughters and wanted to achieve more. She embarked on an ambitious study programme of all the subjects that interested her – including English, computer technology, jewellery design and gemology. When taken as a whole and added to her passion for business, the syllabus proved to be a recipe for success.
Putting her newfound knowledge to good use, Reem began handcrafting jewellery pieces. She also set up the UAE’s first online jewellery shop and began selling her creations. With her young family growing fast, Reem started to add more strings to her business bow by exploring a different market, luxury fashion for children. She began by partnering with exclusive boutique Kid’s Puzzle, which stocks a number of high-end brands, followed by a second endeavour, Little Angels.
Young Versace followed, and last year Reem achieved her biggest accomplishment to date with the opening of Roberto Cavalli Junior at The Dubai Mall – the first standalone store of its kind anywhere in the world.
