The Queen must have really loved Kate Middleton’s wedding dress because she awarded the dress’ designer Sarah Burton an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for “serving the British fashion industry” in her birthday honours list, making Sarah a Dame. The creative director of Alexander McQueen, spent months secretly working on the show-stopping dress, which inspired this season’s hot lace overlay trend that we adore.
Sarah went on to help turn Kate into a fashionista by dressing her for other public occasions such as the Jubilee. But she wasn’t the only fashion power house to be recognised by the Royals. Mulberry’s creative director Emma Hill was given a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) and jewellery designer Lara Bohinc added MBE (Member of the British Empire) to her name. It’s a regal month for fashion!
